Pinsent Masons has appointed Osama Hassan as head of its Middle East operation amid strong growth showcased by the international law firm.

Widely recognised in the UAE corporate market, the firm said in a statement, Hassan has provided dual-language Shari'a, local, and international law expertise in the region for more than 30 years.

In addition to his new post, Hassan will continue to lead the firm’s Middle East corporate group – a position he has held since February 2015.

Hassan has previously advised major energy and infrastructure organisations, government departments, and government-owned entities, as well as heads of family-owned businesses.

Before joining Pinsent Masons, he was partner at Bennett Jones for three years between January 2012 and 2015.

Speaking on the news, John Cleveland, managing partner at Pinsent Masons, said: “The Middle East has a team of highly experienced lawyers with deep sectoral expertise, and with Osama at the helm, [the team] will continue to go from strength to strength."

Hasan added: “As I move into this role, I look forward to deepening our relationships with our clients and continuing to offer the collaborative culture and deep sector expertise that Pinsent Masons is known for."

The news comes amid a recent spike in hiring activity at the company. Earlier this year, Pinsent Masons appointed infrastructure and energy partners, Tim Armsby and Gurmeet Kaur, to its finance and projects practice.

Partner Tom Bicknell also joined its Dubai office to lead the firm’s financial services and corporate insurance offering, providing clients regulatory and product distribution advice in the region.
