Top 10 construction jobs in Saudi Arabia for November 2018

More than 1,000 jobs across various construction disciplines – such as mechanical and electrical engineering, project management, quantity surveying, and cost consulting – are currently available in Saudi Arabia. The kingdom, GCC’s largest country, has more than 5,000 active construction projects worth $819bn (SAR3tn), it was recently revealed.

These projects, which include gigaprojects such as Neom and Qiddiya, as well as megaprojects like Phase 5 of King Abdullah Security Compounds and the expansion of the Grand Mosque in Makkah; The Avenues – Al Malqa, Mall of Saudi – An Narjis; and Saudi Arabia National Guard’s villas in Riyadh; and Darb Al Harmain and Jeddah Downtown Phase 1 in Jeddah. 

Additionally, transport and oil and gas sector projects are also noting growth in the kingdom.

These are only some of the 5,200 projects currently under way in Saudi Arabia, where construction employment is consequently on the up. In this article, Construction Week rounds up the top 10 construction jobs that will be available in Saudi Arabia during November 2018.

Quantity controller – civil

Al-Shalawi is hiring quantity controllers to work in Dammam, Khobar, and the Eastern Province. 

The civil engineering expert must have at least 10 years’ experience, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in the field. 

Experience of infrastructure, road, and bridge projects is required for the role.

Senior architect / interior architect

ICP Gulf is hiring on behalf of an American interior design and architecture consultancy that needs an architecture specialist in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. 

The candidate must hold a diploma degree, with experience in interior design and finishing a must. Overall, the candidate must have a decade of work experience, preferably in the Middle East.

They must be Arabic speakers, and be willing to relocate to Mecca.

Rigger

Asmacs Group is hiring a level-1 rigger to work in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 

The Saudi Aramco-approved credentialed employee should have five to seven years’ experience in the onshore oil and gas segment. 

Candidates must have a diploma or an Industrial Training International certificate for the job.

Senior civil and structural engineer

Dar Consulting Engineers is hiring a senior civil and structural engineer for one of its project management consulting (PMC) projects in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh.

Candidates applying for the role must have experience of PMC work.

Separately, Dar is also hiring an electrical engineer and a project manager in Riyadh, a data entry technician in Jubail, and an admin assistant in Yanbu.

Piping inspectors

Asiapower Overseas Employment is recruiting piping inspectors on behalf of a Korean construction contractor in Saudi Arabia. 

The Korean engineering and construction company is involved in refining, petrochemical, and oil and gas projects in the kingdom. 

The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, and five to 10 years’ experience of quality assurance and control (QA/QC) piping works for oil and gas projects. 

Experience of working in the Gulf and with Korean companies is preferred.

Senior architectural engineer

Arabian Castles for General Contracting Co (ACGC) is hiring a senior architectural engineer in Riyadh. 

The “computer-literate” candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in architecture and be able to design through Autocad. At least 10 years’ experience in architectural design or engineering is required, of which five years must have been in a supervisory position. 

Knowledge of British, American, and Saudi Arabian building design codes is required for the job, and the candidate must be able to lead a group of Autocad operators and junior architects. They must be able to prepare detailed construction drawings, material submittals, bills of quantities, and operations and maintenance manuals.

In their role, the senior architectural engineer will be involved with various design aspects of a project, including materials, sustainability, and building technology. They must also ensure the enforcement of building codes and compliance guidelines.

Quality control inspector

Nov is hiring a full-time quality control (QC) inspector in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. The QC inspector will ensure that the documented quality system is followed and output complies with drawings and specs. 

They will also check and verify that all tools and processes are being implemented in line with established systems, and ensure that raw materials, phosphate, paint, and outsourced parts and materials are inspected. 

The candidate must hold at least a high-school diploma or an equivalent; have five years’ QC experience of which three years has been in machine shop inspection roles; and three to five years’ experience of using handheld inspection tools, such as micrometers, calipers, and height, thread, plug, pin, and functional gauges.

Moreover, the QC inspector will have three to five years of verifiable work experience in dimensional testing, manufacturing practices, engineering drawing (blueprint) interpretation, work instructions, and bill of materials management.

Automation engineer

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (Sel) is is hiring an automation engineer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The engineer will be experienced in software integration and automation, industrial controls, industry protocols, ethernet systems, protocol analysers, and Scada practices. 

They will also support project and engineering teams with project deliverables, and document and report technical issues and malfunctions, as well as identify and analyse undesirable trends. 

Sel’s ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, and have at least two years’ experience with electrical power systems and industrial automation system practices. 

Preferably, the candidate must have experience with electric power transmission, distribution, and generation systems.

Architectural visualiser

International Hospitals Construction Co (IHCC) is hiring an architectural visualiser in Riyadh. The Saudi Arabia construction heavyweight requires the visualiser to work with architects and interior designers to prepare 2D and 3D visualisations and graphic representations. 

The visualiser will produce photo-realistic 3D renderings, and understand concepts and initial design intents for graphic representations.

Reading and accurately interpreting architectural illustrations, 2D Cad files, or other 3D modelling data, will also be a part of the IHCC visualiser’s job. Developing a software library suitable for architectural rendering needs and applications is also required for the job.

Piping engineer

Al Jehat Co (Jatco) requires a piping engineer to join its offices in Riyadh. 

The engineer must have “rich experience” in the oil and gas sector. 

Jatco, registered in Dammam in 1975, is also hiring mechanical, process, communication, civil, structural, and electrical engineers in Riyadh. The company also needs a metal evaluator technician in the Saudi capital.
