Greg Ward, managing director of Dubai-headquartered Transguard, reveals the three things he wants to change about the UAE's facility management (FM) industry in the latest Construction Week Viewpoint podcast episode.

Ward said it was vital to address the liquidity problems that plague the UAE's FM market: “There is, I feel at the moment, an issue of liquidity in the market, but [another problem is that] customers hide behind that issue.”

For instance, the number of customers that “lose invoice is quite impressive”, Ward added.

While there are liquidity issues and challenges that Transguard is tackling head-on, the people-focused business is planning to make two acquisitions in 2018. Details about these activities remain confidential, but Ward said he was “really interested” in acquiring companies that could provide Transguard with “cutting-edge technology”.

Meanwhile, the business recently posted record revenue of $626m (AED2.3bn), and Ward said Transguard's integrated facilities services team is continuing to grow and profit.

Hear the podcast to know more about the three changes Ward wants to see in the UAE's FM market.
