Trane launches new chiller in UAE

Trane, a global leader in indoor comfort systems and services, has launched its new water-cooled helical rotary chilled water system (RTWD) in the UAE. This the first in a series of new product launches for 2009, according to marketing specialist Surajit Mahanty.

The RTWD range features models from 70 to 150 tonnes. It is designed to reduce the total cost of ownership while still being able to operate over a wide range of conditions with day-in, day-out reliability. Due to their compact size, models fit into most existing mechanical rooms without requiring additional floor space or wall tear-outs. That makes system replacement faster, less expensive and less disruptive, which are key considerations given the constraints of the current construction market, notes Mahanty.

“With steadily rising energy prices, the operation of a chilled water system can amount to over 90% of the total lifetime cost of the system. The RTWD range minimises these expenses with an industry-leading efficiency level of 0.68 kW/tonne at ASHRAE conditions,” reveals Mahanty.

RTWD offers additional energy saving capabilities for owners who require hot water in their buildings. By utilising the condenser heat from the chilled water system to heat potable water, swimming pools or laundry services, schools and hotels can lower their operating costs even further.

RTWD has a chilled-water system designed to keep production and revenue flowing with precise temperature control and reliable operation. The chiller delivers such stable water temperature that it can eliminate the need for expensive buffer tanks. The dual compressor design also provides redundancy within a single unit to reliable satisfy even the most critical operations.

In terms of chiller plant control, RTWD features time-of-day scheduling incorporated directly into the Tracer CH530 control panel. Users can schedule up to ten time of day or days of the week events directly on the chiller without having to install a full building automation system.
