Cladding has commenced on Damac Properties’ twin tower development DIFC – Park Towers – in Dubai.

The development’s North Tower is approaching the 25th floor and the South Tower is at the 22nd, the firm said in a statement yesterday.

The cladding contract, worth US $32 million (AED120 million), has been awarded to Arabian Aluminium, which is also carrying out cladding work on the Burj Dubai.

“Park Towers will be a truly stunning building when it is finished and the cladding is an integral part of its striking design,” said Peter Riddoch, Damac Properties CEO.

“We are delighted to be working with Arabian Aluminium on this part of the project and also commend the solid progress shown by our main contractor Shapoorji Pallonji – which is even more commendable in the light of their impressive safety performance on site as well.”

To date, five million man hours have been worked on site without a lost time incident, Damac said.

“To have reached the impressive milestone of five million man hours since construction began without a single lost time incident is a testament to the teamwork and co-ordination on site among all the staff,” said Riddoch.

Park Towers will comprise of ten floors of commercial space – three for shops and seven for offices. Other facilities include a restaurant, health club with tennis court, children’s playground and landscaped gardens.

Construction is due to complete in 2010.
