Barwa Village project was launched in November 2008.
Barwa Real Estate said yesterday that the US $ (QR1.5 billion) Barwa Village project is on track to meet its 2010 construction deadline.
The 400,000m2 mixed-use development located in Al Wakra Municipality, 10km outside Doha, was launched in November last year. Barwa stressed that building work was keeping to the project’s tight 15-month schedule.
The first tenants are due to move in between January and March next year and the development will be able to house 13,000 people in 18 low-level residential blocks.
"We will announce later the rental costs and the priority beneficiaries of residential and commercial units from areas being redeveloped, giving priority to Mohamed Bin Jassim Area phase one (A1&B1) - Mousharib, and the distribution and transfer process will be done according to a strategic plan,” said Barwa president of business developments - Qatar, Khalid Mubarak Al Delaimi.
Barwa Village also has 918 shops, a health club, an international school for 900 pupils, a mosque for 800 worshippers and a medical centre. More than 30% of the development is green space.
