Around 600 workers went on strike in Bahrain yesterday claiming they had not been paid for four months, according to reports.
The workers refused to board buses to take them to work on the Riffa Views luxury golf development. Their employer, Projects Construction Company, blamed Riffa Views for not paying its bills.
"There has been a delay in payment by the client Riffa Views that has affected the payment of salaries to our workers," a company spokesman told the Gulf Daily News.
However, in a statement to the GDN late last night Riffa Views development construction director Ihab Khalil said the industrial action was a matter for resolution between the contractor and its employees.
"For two years Riffa Views has enjoyed a successful working partnership with Projects Construction and we continue to work closely with them to ensure that all building work continues as planned as we approach the final stages of construction," he said.

The workers, who say they earn from US $185-265 (BHD 70-100) a month, agreed to return to work today, after being promised an immediate payment of $66 each and the remainder of their wages by June 15.
"We have not been paid since February and are struggling to even feed ourselves," said one worker.
"We have been borrowing from our friends, but it came to a point that this cannot continue like this.
“If we are not paid by (June 15), then definitely we will go on indefinite strike."
