Danfoss, a global leader in providing sustainable, energy-efficient solutions for refrigeration, air-conditioning, heating and motion controls, represented in the Middle East by Danfoss FZCO, has officially launched its new North American facility as a flagship green building showcasing its product range.
The building meets US Green Building Council LEED for Commercial Interiors certification. The facility’s sustainable design features a Danfoss energy-management system, a high-efficiency HVAC system, high-performance windows, lavatories featuring low water volume toilets and waterless urinals, a white thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roofing system, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood, drought-tolerant landscaping and plants, and low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints, carpets and adhesives.

The energy management system features a Danfoss AK2-SC 255 controller, which manages both the lighting and HVAC in the facility. Motion sensors ensure that lights are turned off in unoccupied areas. The warehouse area features skylights, ceiling lights that can be cycled off in two stages, and super-efficient T-5 fluorescent light fixtures. All heating and air-conditioning systems are controlled by smart thermostats mounted in each area. The thermostats help maximise energy efficiency.
John Galyen, president of Danfoss Refrigeration & Air Conditioning in North America, cut the ribbon and invited all 200 employees into the 46,200 square foot facility. Also on hand were several members of Danfoss’ North American board of directors.
“As a global leader in the manufacture and marketing of innovative, high-efficiency, environmentally-responsible products, we are proud to move into a LEED-registered building whose design aligns itself with Danfoss’ commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility,” commented Galyen.
