Following last week's protest by workers of Al Hamad (above), 75 employees of Abu Amer had been on strike demanding better pay and terms
Around 75 workers from an equipment-hiring firm in Bahrain have returned to work after some of their demands for better pay and conditions were met, according to reports.
The employees of Abu Amer Equipment Hiring Company, who went on strike on Saturday, said they had received guarantees their wages will not illegally be cut and they will now be paid on time.
"Our main concern was wages being cut unfairly for any accidents during the course of duty, and wear and tear to machinery," a spokesman for the workers told the Gulf Daily News.
"The company has promised this will not happen again unless there is enough evidence to prove that it is actually the worker's fault.”
The workers have also been guaranteed a return air ticket home after the first three years of working with the company, as well as tickets every two years after that.
The management is also reportedly considering some of the other demands including a 20% pay rise, an end to skilled and semi-skilled workers doing the jobs of unskilled labourers and the provision of proper medical facilities.
Each of the workers receive a monthly salary ranging from $199 to $265 (BHD 75-100) a month.
