A new campus is being built at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi
The Al Habtoor Specon/Hastie International JV has been awarded a US $164 million contract to provide MEP and fire-systems services for the new campus to be built at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi. The contract is scheduled for completion in July 2011.
“This is a significant contract, confirming the group’s strong market position as a leading provider of building services throughout the Middle East and Gulf region,” said Hastie group MD and CEO David Harris.
The new campus is being built on 75 hectares at New Khalifa City near Abu Dhabi International Airport. When complete, the new campus will have a built-up area of 200,000 m2 and provide educational facilities for 6000 students.
The project is being developed by the Mubadala Development Company, which is wholly-owned by the Abu Dhabi government. The main contractor is a joint venture between Al Habtoor Engineering, which is 45% owned by Leighton International, and South African contractor Murray & Roberts.
Hastie is a leading commercial and industrial air-conditioning, MEP, hydraulics and refrigeration group, with operations in Australasia, the UK and Ireland and the Middle East.
