Italy’s Legnano Teknoelectric Company (LTC) has announced that it will base its first Middle Eastern manufacturing plant in Jafza.
Covering an area of 27,500 square metres, the facility will process grain-oriented electrical steel and will have a lifting capacity of 80 metric tonnes. The plant will be able to process thousands of metric tonnes of electrical steel a month, including conventional grade, high permeability, laser-treated and non-oriented electrical steel.
“LTC’s first facility in the Middle East is a milestone event. Dubai and Jafza in particular is the right springboard for our regional operations and we are confident that our expertise can add more value to the energy sector in the region,” said Daniele Bertelli, board director of LTC Middle East FZE.
The plant is set to open in 2012, and will use Dubai’s strategic location to deliver products to markets in Asia and the Middle East by sea.
“Facilitating development and capacity building in the country’s core sectors such as energy is one of our mandates. LTC’s know-how and superior products will be of immense benefit to the region,” said Shehab Mesmar, senior vice president, commercial sales, Jafza – UAE region.
