US conglomerate AECOM has won a US $15 million (SAR 56 million) contract to provide programme management services for phase one of Knowledge Economic City in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
A company statement released today said the firm will provide services such as project controls, procurement, construction logistics and construction-phase project management.
The Knowledge Economic City has an estimated construction value of $8 billion and is expected to take between 10 to 12 years to complete. The development covers 8.4 square kilometres and is projected to create more than 20,000 jobs and have a population of 150,000.
Meanwhile, AECOM also announced that its $45 million design and construction management contract for the Al Raha Beach Development in Abu Dhabi has been extended.
AECOM has been working on the project for the past four years and said the contract extension will enable further development of the site, which is currently 8km long.
The $14-billion Al Rana Beach Development will consist of residential, retail, recreational and commercial properties, including marinas and canal developments.
Construction services for the project are slated for completion near the end of 2010.
