Breakfast Club chairman Stephen Barker is interested to hear the industry's views on World FM Day.
On August 28, the very first World FM Day will be celebrated. Around the globe, facilities management associations will celebrate their role in managing and maintaining the environment in which we live and work.
“I am delighted to see this event taking place. Associations in France, UK, Hungary, US, Australia, Switzerland, South Africa and Brazil, will be gathering at social or educational events,” said Stephen Barker, chairman of fmME Breakfast Club (the forum for passionate industry leaders and knowledge sharers).
“World FM Day illustrates the advancement of our industry and we should be part of that process here in the UAE.
“Through the fmME Breakfast Club, we are at an advanced stage of establishing a government-approved FM association here in Dubai for the Middle East which will provide both a knowledge-sharing platform and vehicle through which to drive forward industry regulation, training and best practice delivery in line with global standards.”
The association is still undergoing development and approvals through the necessary government authorities here, said Barker.
“But it will happen. However, as the association is, as yet, an official entity, I am calling on all fellow FM professionals throughout Dubai and the UAE to actively take part in the event on August 28. At this stage, no agenda has been set; therefore I would be delighted to receive suggestions from members of our FM community here in the Middle East as to ideas and events which may be appropriate for the day.
“It is an ideal opportunity for FM professionals throughout the Middle East to demonstrate collectively the objectives and progress of facilities management, and how critical it is as a strategic business discipline in the development of the region’s built environment,” Barker concluded.
