LVQ will be located in Industrial Area, on the southern edge of Doha.
Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) has announced the launch of a one million square metre logistics zone, and says that work on the project will begin next month.
Logistics Village Qatar (LVQ) will contain 83,000 square metres of multi-purpose warehousing and 23,200 square metres of accommodation, as well as associated infrastructure.
The site will be developed in three phases, with the first phase, costing QR250 million, schedule for completion in the third quarter of 2010.
GWC has signed a letter of intent with four local companies to construct the buildings and provide power infrastructure. The four companies are Al Alia Trading & Contracting, Al Bader Construction & Steel Works, Lexus Engineering & Contracting Co. and Power Action Gulf LLC.
“LVQ will be a one-stop centre for all supply chain and logistics requirements supported by latest technology and managed to best practices,” said GWC chairman Mohamed Ismail Al Emadi, according to the Gulf Times newspaper.
“LVQ is poised to fulfil the demands for supply chain expertise and services to meet the needs rising from Qatar’s economic growth rate,” Al Emadi added.
