A rendering of Abu Dhabi's Reem Island.
Flooding on the first man-made marina on Reem Island has commenced, with around 355,000 million cubic metres of water being poured into the 250-metre wide Marina @ Najmat development.
The entire process will take less than 30 days to complete.
Marina @ Najmat is the centrepiece for the Najmat development on Reem Island, and will include two hotels and up to 170 berths.
“We mark a significant chapter in Najmat Abu Dhabi’s master plan with the flooding of Marina @ Najmat,” said HE Abdulhamid Saeed, managing director of Reem Investments.
“The sea and waterfront theme of Najmat, the Star of Abu Dhabi has been inspired by some of the best designed and most livable cities internationally such as Canal City Hakata in Fukuoka, Japan and Marina del Rey in California, USA. The marina is poised to be a focal point for a vibrant and exciting waterfront experience when it is launched in 2012.”
