A spokesperson for UAE-based developer Emaar has confirmed to Construction Week that the “Burj Dubai will open this year as scheduled.”
The comment was made in response to 70% of constructionweekonline.com readers, who voted in saying they did not think the Burj Dubai would be completed this year.
Last month, The National newspaper reported that the Burj Dubai, would be completed in December, three months later than scheduled, citing two contractors involved with the project, as sources.
Emaar has still not confirmed the December opening, but has said that the building is scheduled to open this year.
Mohammed Alabbar, Emaar chairman, said last June that the project would be ready by September this year, in time for its previously scheduled launch date of 9/9/9.
Burj Dubai is part of the US $20 billion (AED74 billion) Downtown Burj Dubai development.
