Cable manufacturer Ducab has arranged to send two of its top UAE national vocational educational employees to Australia for international training and experience for a month.
The two employees, Mohammed Al Zaabi and Obaid Ali Tamimi, joined Ducab in 2008 as operators. As graduates of the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) and Vocational Educations Development Centre (VEDC), the two were hand-picked by Ducab.
“I am very proud of Al Zaabi and Ali Tamimi. It is always great to see UAE nationals strive for such outstanding performance, and create a path for their future at a young age,” commented Ducab chairman Ahmad Bin Hassan Al Shaikh.

Al Zaabi and Ali Tamimi will spend the next month gaining valuable international experience working at Hoffman Engineering in Perth, Australia, where they will be able to increase their skills and gain valuable insight into how industrial manufacturing companies operate overseas.
"Ducab has always taken pride in its employees who are the source of its past, present and future success. As part of Ducab goals and values, it ensures that all our employees are always supported by different trainings and special programmes. We are very pleased with this great opportunity, and wish the youngest of our team the very best,” said Ducab MD Andrew Shaw.
In 2007, Ducab signed a MoU with IAT to support its students, and this is the first overseas work placement as a result. Commenting on the news, IAT director Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi said: “We are thrilled to see how far our students have come in such a short period of time. We wish them all the success in their endeavours overseas, and hope that they will be an inspiration and role model to their younger colleagues."
Ducab’s National Development Programme was initiated in 2008, and currently has 60 UAE nationals enrolled in it. This programme, which includes training sessions, tasks and challenging goals, is a platform for Ducab's UAE national employees’ career paths and a guide to their future.
The trip guarantees great benefits for both the development of the employees and the growth of the company. “It is an opportunity of a lifetime for the young employees to gain experience at the beginning of their professional life that is benchmarked to international standards. This is the sort of experience that enables future generations to think globally,” said Dr. Saeed Al Barwani, GM of HR and information technology systems.
