The project, which broke ground in June last year, will feature sporting facilities, an athlete’s village, a four-star hotel, a 400-berth marina and a man-made lagoon for the game’s water-based events.
Twenty-five percent of the overall construction has now been completed by Omran, the Government of Oman’s tourism development and investment arm.
“Works to the marina that will host a large majority of the events is 70% complete while the other permanent structures are approaching 13% complete,” added Lawati.
The 2nd Asian Beach Games will be held in Muscat, Oman in December 2010 and the project is on track for delivery a month prior to the event.
Omran is also working on projects such as The Fort Hotel, a five-star development planned for the Bausher Mountains near Muscat, as well as the Ritz Carlton, and the Jebel Akhdar luxury hotel and spa development.
