What do you think the mood is going to be like at Cityscape Dubai this year? Are you positive or pessemistic about the state of the real estate industry? If you're attending, what are you hoping to gain? And if you're not going, why are you staying away?

Well, the coming Cityscape is an opportunity for property developers, banks and financial institutions to create an atmosphere conducive for attracting buyers to provide some impetus to the economy & to mobilise the cash flow.

Nothing great, the best part would be least traffic in the DWTC area, a sigh of relief.

dubai is killing it s own real estate drive
There is no other country in the world that hiked the interest rate on morgages except UAE. Lowering interest rate = boosting activities. In UAE,we firstly pay loads of money to the bank who will finance the project you are looking at,and secondly, the interest rate is just shy of 9 %. Everywhere else, people are paying 3 to 4 %. This is why people aren't buying/trading in dubai reale estate market. I have 4 properties in Dubai. I can't wait to get ride of it all. It is not profitable with all the maintenance fees, life insurance, cost of interest in early morgage settlement, registration fee. And all this, does not guarantee you will have a tenant. Not even stating the eternity of finishing the exterior, pathway, greenery, street access, parking etc.IT IS BAD to stay polite.

City scape mood - pessimestic
Its still bad, what do you expect, with the latest news of the top executives of 2-3 developers being sued and on of them getting 138 years in jail! All the investors are feeling cheated by the developers, builders and the law. They said the schedule will be followed - never fullfilled, they said free hold - again being cheated, parking not cumpolsary - again being duped that we must buy the parking and at half the rate of the apprtement total cost! This is too much to bear.
