Infinity Tower in Dubai Marina.
Infinity Tower in Dubai Marina, hailed as "an icon that will change the skyline of Dubai Marina", according to Cayan chief development officer Ahmad Kasem, is on track for completion in H1 2011, with handover expected at the end of that year.
What makes the project unique is that it is the world’s tallest high-rise with a ‘twist’ of 90°, giving the entire building a helical shape. Each of the four façades twists a full 90° over the full height of the tower. The full 90° spiral is created by rotating each floor 1.2°, which means unique MEP drawings for every floor slab, Drake & Scull International project manager Yasin Sara has explained.
Commenting on current progress, Kasem says the reinforced concrete sub-structure basement (five levels), reinforced concrete super-structure podium (six levels), reinforced concrete core wall (up to Level 24) and reinforced concrete suspended floor slabs (up to Level 18) have all been 100% completed. MEP works up to Level 11 are 40% complete. The workforce is expected to peak at 2 000 in January 2010.
