CMCI business development manager Bassam Bastaty
Construction chemicals manufacturer CMCI has officially launched its Cemtec 30A polyurethane sealant at this year’s Saudi Build exhibition in Riyadh.
CMCI business development manager Bassam Bastaty said Cemtec is a unique ready-to-use sealant which comes in one component rather two or three components that need to be mixed together.
“It’s very simple, you just insert the component into the gun and apply it. This means it’s much faster and there’s less wastage,” he said.

“Not only that but it’s a very high technology which is also very durable, very strong, withstands all weather conditions, is multipurpose and comes in a range of colours.
“It’s the only product of its kind being manufactured locally in the Gulf. Previously you would have to import these types of sealants from Asia or Europe which can be expensive.”
CMCI began selling Cemtec two months ago and has already had a strong response from the construction industry said Bastaty.
“The response has been excellent, especially in Saudi Arabia, but also in the rest of the Gulf, India, Pakistan and other surrounding countries.”
“We have over 300 products but we are really trying to push this one because we know there is a very good demand.”
Cemtec is manufactured in CMCI’s Dammam plant. The company also recently opened a plant in Jeddah which is producing part of its product line. CMCI is also currently constructing a 15,000m2 plant in the Eastern Province which will specialise in producing powder products.
Bastaty said the company is expecting a 30% increase in turnover in 2010 due to the expected announcement of several large government and oil and gas projects in Saudi Arabia in the coming months.
He said CMCI’s annual turnover for 2009 is expected to be around US $29.3 million (SAR 110 million), a 22% increase in growth.
