Zaid Coat Waterproofing International will start building a new factory in Riyadh in three months according to general manager Abdulaziz Alzaid.
The Dubai-based manufacturer of waterproofing systems set up its Saudi Arabian entity in Riyadh two months ago and it’s expected the vast majority of Zaid’s business will come from the Kingdom next year, said Alzaid.
“Expectations for Saudi Arabia are very high because there are several major projects under construction and on the way,” he said.

“The government is committed to the projects; this is the main part, in other countries you don’t know if the contractor or developer will follow through. You need to secure yourself in these times.”
Alzaid said Zaid’s unique waterproofing system offers a better quality, cheaper and more environmentally friendly alternative to membranes, which are currently in very high demand in Saudi Arabia.
“The market for membranes is huge right now and we expect some of that demand to go to our product,” he said.
“It was very hard in the last two years to convince engineers about our product but now it is easy. They are looking for something new, something of quality and most importantly, something to cut costs.”
