A UAE official has announced plans to include Yemen on the route of the proposed GCC rail network, according to a local newspaper.
At a meeting in Muscat, Gulf policymakers responded to a request from Yemen that the railway be extended over its border with Oman, said Gulf Daily News.
"The GCC has accepted in principle to extend the railway link to Yemen from Oman," said the official,” said the UAE official.

The rail network is estimated to cost US $20-25 billion and will stretch 1,940km, with each Gulf state contributing capital to the project. At the meeting in Bahrain, officials also agreed to appoint a single authority for the project and approved its design.
