Aldar chief commercial officer Mohammed Al Mubarak has claimed that there is "a big possibility" of the developer working with Italian supercar marque Ferrari on branded housing in Abu Dhabi.

Al Mubarak was speaking at a press conference to celebrate the completion of the 200,000m² roof of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi on Yas Island – to be the world’s largest indoor theme park when it opens in the second half of 2010.

“There is a massive possibility that Aldar will work with Ferrari on future ventures in Abu Dhabi, perhaps residential or commercial,” said Al Mubarak.

“We’re still in initial talks – very early stages – and we’ll tell you more once there’s something more concrete to report.

“Housing is a big possibility. We’d like to look at Ferrari branded villas in Abu Dhabi.”

Piero Ferrari – whose father Enzo founded the brand in 1928 through the creation of the Scuderia Ferrari race team – confirmed that the emirate may be the first place to see supercar villas.

“We’re developing Ferrari stores too – we just opened the largest in Dubai yesterday – but we’re working with Aldar to see if there are any new possibilities,” he said.

“We’re looking only for top quality projects.”

The Ferrari chief added that he was pleased with how the relationship with Abu Dhabi private developer Aldar had progressed so far.

“For a long time, we spoke about Ferrari with varius parties, but Abu Dhabi was the first place to show a real, serious commitment to investing in and developing the Ferrari brand.”

Al Mubarak concluded: “For big projects, sometimes they just start by chance. For Aldar and Ferrari, you might say it was love at first sight!”
