UAE-based contracting firm Alec has taken Construction Week’s Contractor of the Year Award for its ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

The award was given to the GCC construction company who could most demonstrate operational excellence, commercial success and continuous improvement.

Testimonials from clients, developers and subcontractors were welcomed, and evidence of commitment to worker welfare, environmental awareness and efficient working practices was essential.

Alec’s work on several recent projects, including Emaar's Al Manzil & Qamardeen Hotels, Majid Al Futtaim's Mirdiff City Centre and on certain elements of Dubai Airport Phase 2, was cited as reasons for the win.

Other shortlisted firms included Dutco Balfour Beatty, Al Hassan Engineering Company, ETA and Insha’a Holding.
