Bahrain's Dilmunia Health Island.
Ithmaar Development Company, the developer behind the world’s first dedicated 'healthcare isle', Dilmunia Health Island in Bahrain, has appointed Mott MacDonald to design the infrastructure for the project.
Developed at an anticipated cost of US $1.6 billion, the 125-hectare manmade island off the north-east coast of Bahrain will be home to centres for diagnosis, nutrition and diabetes, cosmetic surgery, aesthetic medicine, women and children's health, alternative medicine, as well as a sports medicine centre.
"We are absolutely thrilled to be awarded a role on this exciting project by Ithmaar Development Company. It follows successful completion of design work on Al Seef Tower in Manama for the development company and is endorsement of what we hope will be a productive on-going relationship backed by Mott MacDonald's local knowledge of Bahrain and world-class engineering design and management skills," said Mott MacDonald’s Bahrain director Alan Worley.
