A US $66.7 million (KD19 million) contract to design Kuwait’s new airport passenger terminal has been awarded to Foster and Partners, the Ministry of Public Works has announced.

The new $747 million terminal will have an annual capacity of 13 million passengers once complete, taking the airport’s total capacity to 20 million.

“The contract will be signed as soon as the agreement is finalised,” Faisal Al Ostad, an architect at the ministry’s special projects administration told Bloomberg.

Foster & Partners were chosen over companies from the US, France and Germany, Al Ostad said.

The terminal is expected to be completed by November 16, 2010.
