Professionals from the Philippines are, on average, paid less than their Indian and British counterparts
Construction professionals from the Philippines who work in the GCC earn on average 48% less than the industry average, according to a survey carried out by Construction Week.
The CW Salary Survey found that the average Filipino construction professional earned $3,168 a month. The figure is $2,879 lower than the industry-wide average of $6,047 per month.
Two weeks ago, Construction Week reported that Indian professionals also earned less than the industry average, with a salary of around $4,111 a month.
A total of 1221 people took part in the survey, which was conducted online during April to September 2009. Professionals originating from the Philippines made up the second largest nationality group surveyed.
‘Civil engineer’ was the largest single job designation of Filipino respondents.
The average salary of a civil engineer from the Philippines is $2,718 per month, compared to an industry-wide average of $3,370.
