PAL is completing work on the plant at Reem Island.
Work is at the final stages of the piping network for district cooling plant I in the Tamouh project in the Reem island mega-development, Abu Dhabi, according to contractor and supplier PAL Technology.
The master project is a 90,000 refrigerant ton (RT) plant and, with 70% of the piping network for the supply of chilled water to a total cooling demand of 118,000 RT already completed, the completion of this project represents the final 30% of total capacity.
“Owing to its size and capacity, the project is a milestone in not just our portfolio but also the UAE district cooling industry in general. Upon completion the plant will supply chilled water to cool over 3 million m² of covered area”, said PAL Technology projects director Sheraz Siddiqui.
“We are proud to have been chosen to deliver this project and pleased to have done so in the record time of 18 months.”
Reem Island is a mix use project on a natural island off the coast of Abu Dhabi, and is due to have 22,000 residential units upon completion.
In addition to the district cooling plant, PAL Technology has also commenced design and construction of a wastewater plant for up to 62,000 PE (200 litres/capita/day) at Al Reem Island.
