The new plant will include a range of state of the art machinery.
Greenply Industries, India’s leading producer of interior infrastructure materials, will launch the country’s largest MDF plant in March.
Greenply is already an established supplier of plywood, high pressure laminates and decorative veneers, accounting for 25% of India’s organised plywood market and 15% of its organised laminates market.
The company experienced 40% growth over the last financial year and currently operates six manufacturing facilities across India, exporting to 25 countries across the globe.
Responding to burgeoning demand for interior infrastructure products, fuelled by India’s growing middle class and buoyant real estate sector, Greenply has invested $52 million in the new Panelmax MDF plant.
The facility will have an annual capacity of 180,000m³ and will be the first in India to incorporate Dieffenbacher’s CPS continuous pressing technology. It will also incorporate Metso’s latest generation EVO refiner, the Steinemann Satos 8 head sanding line and the unique Lukki 2 dimensional panel storage system, also supplied by Dieffenbacher.
The new facility will strengthen Greenply’s sustainability credentials, as MDF is an environment-friendly product made from 100% sustainable plantation timber. Since plantation timber is a cash crop and can be planted with other crops in the same farmland, farmers have proven to be very receptive to it and see it as an added source of income.
Furthermore, the plant’s emission’s levels will not only be within stipulated Indian regulations, but also on par with plants in Europe, North America and Japan.
