Despite the recession and a widespread hiring freeze across the construction sector, Emirates Building Systems (EBS), a maker of steel structures, has bucked the trend and hired 150 new employees last week.
The positive news comes at a time when confidence in the market remains fragile.
EBS said it hired 150 new employees to meet increased manpower requirements due to expansion of its UAE and overseas operations.
The company has won new projects including the Tripoli airport project in Libya, the Petrofac-Adco project and the CPECC crude oil pipeline project in Abu Dhabi.
The new employees have been recruited for positions such as welders, steel fabricators, quality assurance/quality control inspectors, estimation engineers, and sales engineers.
EBS manufactures, sells and erects steel structures on a national and international scale.
Its production capacity is 50,000 tonnes per year and its plant is located in Dubai Investments Park, Jebel Ali.
