Contractors have been invited to express their interest in the contract to build Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Midfield Terminal Building.
The Midfield Terminal Building is a cornerstone of the US $6.8 billion redevelopment of the airport. It will house the operations of Etihad, the UAE’s national airline, and will be built to handle 20 million passengers annually.
Pre-conditions for expressions of interest include annual turnover of US $5 billion and 'successful completion' of five similar projects in the last ten years, two of which must be worth more than US $1 billion.
Bidders must also be familiar with international green building codes and be able to comply with the forthcoming Estidama guidelines.

Its good to read that the UAE is slowly coming back to its style & scale of projects post recession.

Hope
This is going to be the first major tender coming into UAE market post recession in 2010 and brings a great deal of hope for the contracting business in the region. Lets hope 2010 will see more similar projects bringing buoyancy in the current 'not so happening' market.
