Feghali: 3M is working with Dubai Municipality to help improve safety levels.
Protection and security expert 3M has rated the Middle East’s construction site safety standards as four out of 10.
Speaking to ConstructionWeekOnline at the Intersec trade fair and conference, 3M country business leader for safety, security and protection services Walid Feghali said that the industry has to keep “hammering the importance of on-site safety” in order to improve.
“Damage to the eyes, ears and lungs is irreversible so it is vital that safety knowledge is passed on to contractors, supervisors and workers so that the right tools are provided,” he said.
“We are working with the Dubai Municipality to elevate awareness to improve the level of standards in the Middle East.”
Despite this evaluation, Feghali said the situation is getting better and more construction companies are starting to make on-site safety a top priority.
“I would say that we have seen a lot of improvement in on site safety over the past few years. We have a dream that one day every single individual will know which products to use so that workers can be safe and productive on site.”
