Elips boosts availability of pipe supplies

Empower-Logstor Insulated Pipes Systems (Elips) has opened the UAE's largest pre-insulated pipe manufacturing facility, in Jebel Ali.

Elips is a 51:49 joint venture between Emirates Central Cooling Systems (Empower), the UAE’s leading district cooling company, and Logstor, a global manufacturer of pre-insulated pipes.

The $25 million facility will cater to the requirements of district cooling companies and oil & gas producers.

“Empower decided to enter this joint venture with an eye on securing the supply chain of pre-insulated pipes, which constitute 20-25% of our total capital investment,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

“The facility will ensure timely delivery and installation of pipe networks that will have a major impact on Empower’s project timelines,” Bin Shafar added.

According to a statement, Elips will reduce reliance on imports and help ensure ready local availability of an essential construction material.
