A new energy-management system (EMS) that bridges the functionality and cost gap between a simple thermostat and a full-scale building automation system for commercial applications has been unveiled at the 2010 AHR Expo in Orlando, Florida in the US, billed as the world’s largest HVACR event.
Designed for the commercial market, the ecobee EMS is ideal in applications where a simple thermostat does not provide adequate controls and functionality, and a full-scale building automation system is too complex and cost-prohibitive. The ecobee EMS has been designed to be extremely easy to use, to reduce operating costs and to deliver increased energy conservation.
“We developed the ecobee EMS to accomplish the same goal as our smart thermostat, namely ‘green made easy’,” explained Stuart Lombard, president and CEO of ecobee. “HVAC contractors, business owners and building managers all pointed to a serious gap in intelligent and affordable commercial energy management systems. The ecobee EMS was developed to fill that gap.”
