After a nightmare 2009 for Dubai's construction and real estate industry, cumulating in the controversy involving government developers Nakheel and Dubai World in December, authorities on Monday gave a clear statement of intent.

Speaking at the Piling & Deep Foundations Middle East 2010 Summit, Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authroity (DTMFZA) director Mohamed Al Bahri said, “Let everybody know the construction industry in Dubai is here to stay.”

Opening the DTMFZA exhibition at the summit and providing an official welcome, Bahri continued, “We will face any hardship; we will meet any challenge.”

The Piling & Deep Foundations Middle East 2010 Summit is being held at the Westin Hotel, Dubai, until February 3, and includes many lectures and presentations on technical challenges facing the industry, as well as case studies aimed at advancing the practice in the Middle East.
