Architecture and interior design practice Aukett Fitzroy Robinson (AFR) has targeted the Middle East as a key growth market.
The practice has 11 offices around the world, with Abu Dhabi constituting one of its major hub offices along with London and Moscow.
“Despite troubles impacting some markets in the region, we still see plenty of opportunity in the Middle East. There is still a great deal of investment being poured into the cities of the region particularly in Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh and Jeddah. However, we also see opportunity in North Africa.
“We believe the main sectors for growth will be in masterplanning, social infrastructure and transport.”
Thompson was speaking at the recent Aukett Fitzroy Robinson celebration party at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Abu Dhabi Yas Island. The company was appointed as lead consultant, architect and interior designer on the project by Aldar Properties.
It also worked on the adjoining Park Inn Abu Dhabi and is working on the interior design of two more hotels in Abu Dhabi.
AFR designed a number of landmark buildings in Abu Dhabi during the 1970s and 1980s, including the Arab Monetary Building on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche and the National Day Grandstand on Khaleej Al Arabi Street. AFR returned to Abu Dhabi in 2007.
