Saudi Tabreed has signed an agreement with Saudi Aramco to design, construct, finance, own, operate and maintain a centralised cooling plant and a network to supply chilled water to the Saudi Aramco buildings in the Dhahran area.
The plant will have a total cooling capacity of 27,000 TR. The agreement is for a 23-year term.
Saudi Tabreed chairman Mohammed bin Abdullah said the project reflected Saudi Aramco’s commitment to the environment, as district cooling consumes half the electricity compared to traditional cooling methods.
“Saudi Aramco is a prestigious client, so this is an important flagship project for Saudi Tabreed,” said Abdullah.
“The deal not only reflects Saudi Aramco’s commitment to energy conservation, but also represents an important opportunity for private-sector involvement,” added Saudi Aramco executive director community services Nabeel Abdullah Al-Jama.
