Investments in warehousing and transport have created a streamlined supply chain allowing Alam Steel to meet clients’ needs for material to be delivered on a just-in-time basis. With 300 employees, Alam is one the largest steel distribution firms in the region selling over 600,000 tons per annum.

Alam Steel Industries (ASI) processes reinforcement bars in a 20,000 square meter facility located in the Dubai Investment Park. The factory is one of the largest of its kind with an annual capacity of almost 360,000 tons.

ASI became the first rebar processing factory in the Middle East to be awarded the prestigious UK based CARES certification in October 2007. The group has also entered into a 50-50 JV with Macsteel to set up a steel service centre that will process plate and sections for the hydrocarbon and other related industries.

The factory will be based in the Jebel Ali Free Zone and is expected to begin operations by 2011. Alam Steel International is responsible for leveraging the group’s sourcing, logistics, and financial strength to conduct direct mill to customer trading into the MENA, and South East Asian markets.
