The bridge links Abu Dhabi to Saadiyat Island

Contractors hoping to pre-qualify for the latest Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) package in Abu Dhabi have less than two weeks to submit their applications.
The project includes the primary enabling works and infrastructure utlities diversions, traffic diversions and demolition works required for the Sheikh Khalifa Bridge Connection to Corniche and Mina Roads - and work is expected to begin in the third financial quarter of 2010.
The project is open to experienced contractors in the UAE with a minimum annual turnover of AED 200 million, sustained for at least the last three years.
The invitation to pre-qualify was issued on May 5. Contractors who meet the criteria can apply for a pre-qualification questionaire by emailing infrasaadiyat@tdic.ae and returning it to the Tourism Development & Investment Company before midday, May 23. The pre-qualification fee is AED10,000.

The work is expected to take nine months to complete. In order to pre-qualify for the project, contractors must be aable to deomnstrate recent experience on projects of a similar size, nature and complexity - and must be a major registered construction company with representatives in the UAE, including being registered with the Abu Dhabi Authority-approved lists to carry out utility and road diversions.
The Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, opened in November 2009, is a key component connecting Abu Dhabi to the Saadiyat Island development.
