Zetas Apex Foundation Technologies SAL has won the contract for the enabling work for DAMAC Properties’ first real estate project in Lebanon, it was announced this morning.

The construction process – situated in the Solidere area of the capital, Beirut - is expected to take around nine months due to the uneven terrain and will involve piling and excavation to a depth of 24 metres. The project is in collaboration with Italian fashioon giant Versace.

Ziad El Chaar, general manager of DAMAC Properties, said work on site will start within two weeks of the launch in late June. The value of the contract is as yet undisclosed.

“This is a hugely exciting development for us – our first in Lebanon – and we are confident that it will become the most sought after address in downtown Solidere.”

Why convert one of the most beautiful cities in the world into a forest of ridiculous buildings?

DAMAC Properties has already handed over more than 3,000 units in a range of luxury residential and commercial buildings in Dubai, its home market. It is also aggressively moving forward with construction plans and developments in Abu Dhabi, Jordan, Qatar, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Gamsha Bay and Hyde Park are two projects in construction in neighbouring Egypt, with numerous developments across Business Bay and Downtown Jebel Ali in Dubai.

Two years ago it appointed Zetas for enabling work of its DAMAC Heights project in Dubai Marina.

Earlier this month it awarded Drake and Scull International Centre for Contracting the main contract for its Al Jawharah project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, worth SR450 million, which will see teams mobilise on site within weeks to complete the construction of the 42 storey building in around 28 months once enabling work is complete.

Mr El Chaar cited the company’s ability to spot prime locations and deliver “iconic buildings” in those areas.

DAMAC and Other Towers....
There is nothing to be proud of for Damac or others, converting one of the most beautiful cities in the world into a forest of ridiculous buildings. The culture in Lebanon is not same as the Gulf, and buildings made of glass have nothing to do with Lebanon or Beirut architecture and culture. If Damac wants a nice PR story, then let it build according to Beirut's architecture, not Hong Kong or Dubai. Taste is not same all over the world. Don't make our city ugly just so that you make money. Try to add something positive to Beirut's history rather than just copy and paste drawings and plans that you already have for some other city.
