The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport (DoT) has introduced paid parking services in two new areas of the emirate.
The services, implemented today, come in line with the Mawaqif 2010 Plan, revealed earlier this year, which aims to manage car parks and spaces in the capital.
The first area is between Khalifa Street, East Road, Corniche Road and Street 6, with a total of 1,937 parking bays. Paid parking services will also be extended to the second area between Khalifa Street, Airport Road, and Corniche Road, with a total of 614 parking bays.

"Mawaqif was created to serve the society and its role is not limited to the implementation of paid parking services. Department of Transport is introducing additional services with the aim of providing comprehensive and sustainable solutions to address the growing needs for parking," said DoT manager of parking Najib Al Zarooni.
Residents in both areas can apply for parking permits from the Mawaqif Customer Service Centres.
Paid parking is enforced from 8am to 9pm, Saturdays to Thursdays, at a rate of AED3 per hour for premium parking with a maximum stay of four hours, and AED2 per hour or AED15 per day for standard parking.
Residents in both areas can apply for parking permits, which cost AED800 for one year, from the Mawaqif Customer Service Centres.
