Bahraini officials have launched an investigation after 113 foreign workers were abandoned by their employer at a labour camp in Tubli, local media reports.

The Indian workers of S Projects Company, previously called Royal Tower Construction (RTC), have not been paid for three months, Gulf Daily News reports.

They claim the firm cut power and water off from the camp earlier this week and told them to leave, but they have no money to afford food yet alone airline tickets home.

The workers have filed official complaints with the Labour Ministry and the Indian Embassy, but have not yet been successful in their attempts to contact the company. S Projects Company officials were unavailable to comment, the paper reports.

Worker Satya Vail told the paper: "We are suffering as we don't have any money and on top of it, we are living in this heat after the power was cut.

"The company says they don't have money, but what about us? We haven't eaten proper food for three months.

"The company has told us to vacate the camp and go elsewhere, but we don't know where to go.”
