Millionaire Sunny Varkey is the epitome of a self-made man. His education group, GEMS, has morphed from a single Indian primary school to the biggest provider of K12 education in the world. Under Varkey’s steer, Global Education Management Systems (GEMS) today teaches 100,000 students in 100 schools across 11 countries.
Varkey’s interests don’t end with education. The Dubai-based entrepreneur has fingers in a number of pies, including construction and healthcare.
Varkey was rated the most powerful expatriate in the Gulf’s education sector. He also ranked No.36 in the 2009 Arabian Business Expat Power list.
Varkey has been equally lauded in India for his achievements. In 2009, he was awarded the ‘Padma Shri’ in recognition of his contribution to education and social services.

My Hearty Wishes for Continued Success
Its gives pleasure to know that an Indian without a sound financial background has made it up to this level. Hope he continues with his mission and explore more avenues for success.

Richest
Re: below comment.
They are richer because they have more money. They also employ hundreds, if not thousands, of people - therefore enriching the lives of their employees. I, for one, applaud their efforts because without entrepreneurs and business geniuses, we'd all still be living in the dark ages.
I can only imagine how great it must feel to have created a company that not only employs thousands, but helps my nation's economy to become far stronger. That would certainly make for a rich sense of fulfillment.

RIch for What
Every persons are richest in different manner. it's with kind, mercy, love, serve, personality, attitude, health...etc. also with wealth. these are all depends on his/her dealings with others. no one think you are richer to others coz of you are wealthy. please understand you are not richer to others unless you pay your richness (one of the above mentioned) to others in different ways.
Otherwise why should others call you as richer???

With respects .. Indian community forms almost 50% of the UAE's demography .. This fact makes it obvious to be the richest - as well as the poorest - ethnic group in the country .. I don't know about other GCCs .. Good day : )

Having spent some 30 yrs in GCC countries I have met and known personally a few of them, particularly Mickey Jagtiani during his formative years in Bahrain. He is indeed very hard working, innovative, visionary and possesses great human qualities, befitting to the stature achieved. My best wishes and may God bless him.
