The Qatar Steel company has signed a deal with a Brazilian company for the long-term supply of iron ore pellets – a core ingredient in the production of steel.
The deal was sealed last week with Samarco Mineracao SA, one of Brazil’s largest producers and exporters of iron ore pellets.
Samarco Mineracao SA opened its third pellet plant in Anchieta, State of Espírito Santo, in 2008 and exports 100% of its products to Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East and the Americas. The company is equally owned by Companhia Vale do Rio Doce and BHP Billiton.
The contract period with Qatar Steel is for six years (2011-2016).
