Promat Middle East has supplied fire protection to a 150,000m2 mixed used development in Qatar.
Cafco 400, a spray-applied wet mix product designed to provide fire protection for structural steel, and Promatect -250, a lightweight cladding board that offers dimensional stability and fire resistance, have been implemented into The Gate in Doha.
Fire protection plays a critical role in The Gate, which features a central podium section that houses retail outlets, fitness centres and restaurants. There are also three office towers, two of which rise 13 floors up above the podium and are connected across three floors to form a gate.
The products were selected or their ability to provide 120 minutes of fire protection, while satisfying British Standards requirements. Promat also supplied an additional 150m2 of Promat Supalux fire-resistant building board for the compartmentation of certain mechanical areas.
“This project reflects the hard work and efforts undertaken by our applicator and distributor in Qatar. Being able to supply a combination of spray and board products was a unique selling point for Promat on this project and this played a significant role in helping build the confidence of the client,” Promat sales and marketing sirector Mark Lavender.
