More than 350 housing plots will be made available for new projects in Kuwait’s Al Qairawan area after the government struck a deal with the Kuwait Oil Company to release the land.
The decision came after a meeting between KOC officials and the joint committee charged with locating suitable lands for housing development – particularly those with no oil deposits.
The 370 plots will be distributed after the Eid holidays and, according to a statement issued by senior government official Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the plots will cost KD3,000 each (US$10,500) – easing the cost for local buyers.
KOC will be responsible for treating the soil ahead of the move.
