ABB wins US$4.5m contract at Raha Beach

The Al Raha Beach development is currently under construction and due for completion in 2018.

ABB has signed a US$4.5 million contract with Aldar to design and install four substations for the Al Muneera precinct in Abu Dhabi, part of the Al Raha Beach development.

As part of the turnkey contact, ABB will be responsible for the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of four 22/0.4kV substations.

The substation delivery includes 24 2000 kVA transformers, 48 22 kV air-insulated switchgear panels, telecoms equipment, DC systems and a host of medium- and low-voltage cables.

Located on the precinct of Khor Al Raha, the Al Muneera project is a neighborhood offering a mix of luxury villas with waterfront and canal views, and distinctively designed multi-storey apartment buildings.

Supplying air- and gas-insulated substations covering a range of voltage levels up to 1,100 kV, ABB has among the largest number of installations worldwide.

Rizk added: "ABB's technology coupled with our long history of building quality and reliable substations in the UAE were key factors in this contract win."
