Royal Philips Electronics has acquired Burton Medical Products, a leading provider of specialised lighting solutions for the healthcare industry, from Norwegian industrial group, Glamox.
The acquisition will enable Philips to further strengthen its standing as a leading provider of healthcare lighting solutions. The new business unit will become part of Philips Lighting’s Professional Luminaires business group.
“The acquisition of Burton will add a range of specialised medical lighting solutions to our general lighting portfolio for the healthcare segment, while building further the position of Philips as a total solutions provider to the medical profession,” said Marc de Jong, general manager, Professional Luminaires.
Burton is a healthcare lighting manufacturer engaged in the business of designing, manufacturing and distributing high quality exam, diagnostic and minor surgery lighting equipment. Since its inception in 1928, Burton has created long-lasting solutions to the complex lighting issues facing physicians and healthcare professionals.
