As the Mechanical Engineer you will provide with full responsibility and accountability, a technical service to ASTAD, in all areas of design, specification, selection, award and design management of mechanical equipment for all project related buildings, infrastructure, landscape, sustainability works, spanning over and ranging from project definition through execution to completion and commissioning stages.

Assist Senior Mechanical Engineer and support Lead Mechanical Engineer in order to coordinate and collaborate with consultant and contractor submittal reviews and ensure that all designs are in compliance with the latest statutory / local / international codes and standards, Company policies and procedures while adhering to Client technical and financial requirements.

Deputize Senior Mechanical Engineer in liaising with project engineers, other discipline engineers, construction / site engineers and end-users, in order to review consultant works for cost effective and fit for purpose design solutions in line with Company guidelines.

This position involves working on a wide range of differing situations and environments, across all ASTAD operational areas within State of Qatar.
Generally requires working on more than one project at a time.

Who we're looking for

• Education:
B. Sc. in Mechanical / Building Services Engineering.
Professional membership of a relevant recognized international institute / association / organization is desirable.
Chartered engineering status is preferred.

• Experience:
Minimum of 10 years broad based experience in large building and civil infrastructure projects, covering the spectrum of design, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems, particularly in the Middle East.

Area of expertise should encompass HVAC, fire protection, automatic controls, infrastructure works, plumbing, drainage, infrastructure works, fire fighting, motors, pumps, district cooling etc.

Ability to complete site surveys for existing equipment and undertake assessment work of existing equipment for re-vamp and debottlenecking.

• Independence:
Operates within the framework of established company policies and departmental procedures, guided by Engineering codes, practices and philosophies.

Choice of a particular solution or design is left to the incumbent. Work accomplishments are not subject to third party design checks. The work is occasionally overviewed by the Lead Mechanical Engineer.
